Holice Powell students won nine out of twelve awards during the recent
WLJT Young Writers & Illustrators Contest for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Students wrote their own original story with illustrations. The winners were invited to the studio of WLJT in Martin to be taped reading their story for air on WLJT during the coming year. The winners were:
Kindergarten: 1st place - Clare Cunningham, Unicorn World
2nd place - Weston Fisher, Sugar's Story
1st grade: 1st place - Caylee Cooper, The Moth and the Firefly
2nd place - Silas Hill, The Ninjas
2nd grade: 1st place - Kierra Midkiff, A Small Horse Named Bolt
4th grade: 1st place - Ty Hendricks, Don't Cut Down My Trees
2nd place - Emma McGavock, Zoey the Cheerleader
5th grade: 1st place - Kaden Elliott, Lost
2nd place - Lukas Lumley, A Vacation of a Lifetime
